Tuesday 4 meme is Music.

 

I've been missing in action for a few days so thought I'd take part in Tuesday 4 (albeit a couple of days late) just to keep in touch :) If you'd like to take part or see what others have to say this is the link   https://tuesdaysplace.blogspot.com/ 

Tuesday 4 is hosted  in memory of Toni Taddeo who started it a few years ago and I hope you will join in with us each week. It is a great way to visit new bloggers, make friends and discover new and interesting things about your friends.

The topic for this week's Tuesday 4 meme is Music..

1. Do you play a musical instrument? 

No, but I'd love to have learned the piano when I was younger. And drums, are they a musical instrument? My son is a drummer and he practised in his bedroom. We had to shut him down at a reasonable time in the evenings though so he didn't upset the neighbours. I also spent a term learning the violin at school, last year at Primary I think, I hated it so didn't go back to learn more. I quite like to listen to one being played though which may be why I was attracted to it to start with.

2. Have you taken music lessons? What kind? If not, is there one you might enjoy learning? It is never too late to start.  You might be surprised at how accomplished it will make you feel.

A friend paid for me to have about half a dozen piano lessons once upon a time, and I can 'kind of read' music as long as it's not complicated.

3. Is there music in your home as background to your day's activities or do you have music playing in your car, etc.?

No, not any more. I always had the radio going or tapes playing before my hubby retired but he has the telly going all day and the rooms are too close together to have both radio and telly on at the same time unfortunately. Yes the radio is usually on in the car.

 If so, what kind of music do you enjoy hearing?

I enjoy music from the 60's, my era.  And singers like Shirly Bassey or Bing Crosby are a couple I grew up listening to and so I learned to appreciate a lot of different styles. I also used to enjoy Cleo Laine. 

What kind of music do you NOT like?

Heavy metal. Techno.

4.  Do you have a favorite composer or genre of music that you like most? Maybe you like several. Please share with us your thoughts?

Some jazz, I enjoy piano and I also enjoy listening to big band music. I pretty much just like music in most forms :)

Diggers Tavern for lunch

Today our daughter in law shouted us out for lunch. So at midday we presented ourselves at Diggers Tavern which was formerly the RSA (Returned Services Association), and were shown to our table.

 Spitfire Restaurant was looking good with the tables set nicely, a table for two for us :) My GKB is looking a bit solemn but he was enjoying himself. The entertainment hadn't yet started.

There was only one course but it was well worth the money and filled us, so just a snack for tea tonight. We both ordered crumbed Schnitzel with gravy, chips and green salad. We managed to eat it all but I noticed some people took doggy bags home. And we didn't have to wait long for it, it was on the table about 10 minutes after ordering.

I'm also looking a bit serious but was distracted by the entertainers arriving. To eat or to watch them setting up? Eating won out :)

A lady I've known for about 30 years played background music while were dining. She is a beautiful pianist but unfortunately she was on a keyboard today and it sounded bit tinny but no one seemed to mind. It was also a little hard to hear her over all the background chatter, but that's a good thing - chatter usually means people are enjoying themselves in my experience.

Tea, coffee or something cold from the bar was available after the meal. I'm a tea drinker and my GKB went and got our drinks. He ordered me Earl Grey tea, not my favourite but I didn't mind today.

And then the Rhythmix started their turn. It was a wonderful hour and a half of 60's music, the Beatles, Beachboys and the like. Tom Jones. A bit of a singalong and finishing off with Vera Lynne's 'We'll meet again'.
 

We had a lovely time out and grateful thanks to daughter in law Sofi.

Market day

December has arrived, heralding the beginning of summer, 

and the weather is playing ball.

 I got slightly sunburnt while out walking yesterday.

The Christmas tree has been erected in Anzac Park.

And on Saturday we had our annual Market Day.

The organizers were hoping to get about 8000 people along 

and as it was a good day I'm pretty sure they did.

Both ends of the main road were closed off for about six hours.

The shops were open and a lot of them

 had tables outside with sales goods on them.

There were critters for the kids to interact with 

and bouncy castles at either end of the street.

Little Flick was there as well,

who remembers him from their childhood?

I used to listen in on the radio and hear his tale.

Lots of kids riding on him :)

A sound stage had been set up and there was almost 

continuous music throughout the day as well as a talent quest.

Of course there were a lot of arts and crafts stalls 

as well as produce and boutique style products.

We found a lovely pendant we are sure 

our eldest daughter will love. One Christmas present

 down, heaps to go. Oh well it's that time of year.

We have to have the overseas posting done by Thursday 

and we haven't bought anything yet!

Methinks tomorrow (Wednesday) will be a tad busy.

We spent an enjoyable hour or so down there,

and did see one or two other things we'll maybe

 go back and buy sometime from one of the boutiques.

And that is pretty well it for this week.
