I love looking at posts showing Christmas in the northern hemisphere but for me Christmas happens in the summer. So I thought I would show you some pictures from a summer
Christmas Day past.
One year we kitten sat for our daughter, summer is kitten time, and she ended up decorating our tree. She loved the fact that we had put a tree in the lounge for her and covered it with all sorts of shiny toys. She gave us a lot of laughs as she climbed from bottom to top and back again.
Of course there is always heaps of food and even with summer salads and cold meats it is easy to over eat if you're not careful.
And if you manage to behave with the salads
maybe you won't be so good with the summer desserts.
Naturally there are delicious sweet and savoury nibbles
scattered around in strategic places as well.
Afterwards there's always time to sit around out of the sun
and just relax and socialise, have a long cool drink or two
and wash all that party food down.
Or join the kids for a game of backyard cricket and maybe lose some of those calories you just piled on over lunch. Or what's more likely, lose the ball, probably on a neighbours roof :)
But before any of this happens there is the opportunity to attend a Christmas church service and celebrate the birth of Jesus, who is after all, the reason for the season.
Just a little glimpse of a
summertime Christmas,
I hope you enjoyed it.

I don't think I could ever get used to Christmas in the Summertime.
ReplyDeleteI am still trying to wrap my head around Christmas Down Under. Thanks for sharing how you celebrate Christmas. Of course some Christmases here in the Southern US have been warm...it varies from year to year. We even had a White Christmas four years ago. It was amazing.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a different perspective from a temperature standpoint but still the same holiday. Enjoy the season.
ReplyDeleteNew Zealand is on our list to visit one day.
Oh my, I can't stop chuckling at the cat in the tree....too cute!
ReplyDeleteThinking of you during this Christmas season. Love and hugs!
Wonderful to see your summery Christmases! I often say that one of the things I love about blogging is seeing what is happening at the same time of year but in a different season on the other side of the world. I really do enjoy it and seeing your summery Christmas is a wonderful part of that!
ReplyDeleteHo Ho Ho! Merry Christmas! Actually, our Christmases here in Florida aren't too much different than yours! We may get a little chilly..sweater weather, but there have been many years that we were wearing shorts and had the AC on for Christmas day! I like that you have salads, etc., picnic style. I think I'd rather do that than cook so much. Your kitten in the tree pic is adorable! So funny! Have a blessed and Merry Christmas, regardless of the season...because yes, Jesus IS the reason!!
ReplyDeleteIt is so hard to imagine having Christmas in the summer! I suppose it is hard for you to imagine it in the winter! LOL! Thank you for sharing your special memories with us...seeing the wonderful array of food made me hungry!
ReplyDeleteWe have pretty mild weather here but the days are short. I love all the pretty things under your tree in your banner and the photo of the kitten in the tree is priceless! Enjoy your week! (love seeing your flowers too) Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, This is neat to see how you do Christmas down in the Southern Hemisphere. Food, decorations, and family all look great. Thanks for sharing and have a fine weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the summer Christmas pictures.
ReplyDeleteWe lived in Puerto Rico for three years so know what it is like to have a 'summer'
Christmas. : )
Love the picture of the kitty in the tree. : )
What a joy to celebrate Christmas from opposite sides of the world, it was amazing to see the summer version.
ReplyDeleteI always wonder what a Christmas would be like in a sunny corner of the world. Thanks for sharing. What a wonderful kitten in the tree picture. We still tie our tree to the furniture, just in case :) B x
ReplyDeleteI think your summertime Christmas is beautiful...and your daughter's kitty made me smile. xo
ReplyDeleteA summertime Christmas is impossible for me to think of:) But only a matter that I have not accustomed to it... The grey cute kitten in the Christmas tree made me smile too! We don't have any Christmas tree anymore after Sissi the cat came to our life :) You understand why!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holiday Season!
I must admit, it does seem to be celebrating Christmas in the summertime...but I know that many of you folks do! It is all what you get used to, right? Merry Summertime Christmas to you, Diana! ♥
ReplyDeleteLooks to me as if you have some great cooks in your family. I'm intrigued by the desserts(?) with the kiwi slices on top. Are they cakes?
