Don't you just love roses? There are so many different types.
Some are dainty and refined and
others are blousey and right in your face.
I don't even pretend to know the names of these roses,
they are just some from around my property
I thought you might like to see.
Some are fragrant, most are not.
These two I can see when I'm standing at the kitchen sink.
Hanging over the fence from the neighbour's section,
the top one looks like red velvet, in reality slightly darker
than the photo, but not much scent.
This is another one hanging over the fence, I don't mind at all.
It is a little bedraggled and windblown but still pretty.
One my daughter gave me when she moved houses.
She only has a tiny garden and didn't want
to leave her roses behind. Again no scent.
She gave my little mother a couple too.
Now this one I do know the name of, it's called 'Rock n Roll'.
The photo doesn't do it justice, it's very flirty.
Another one from my daughter. So pretty.
As is this beautiful yellow one, just gorgeous.
This is the same as one she gave her Gran.
Very true to colour. Isn't it brilliant?
And this one is very special although a bit windblown as well.
It is a cutting from my grandmother's bush.
Mum also took a cutting. When let to grow it is rampant
and we have had to keep it cut hard back
so it doesn't take over the back section.
A white rambling rose, it is called Mrs something or other.
Maybe Mrs Simpson, the time frame is right.
Once upon a time I knew.
I hope you enjoyed my roses as much as I do.
I'm sorry I can't tell you anything much about them.
I'm not much of a gardener but I like gardens.
My daughter and her daughter are gardeners -
that gene seems to have bypassed me and my little mother.

Have a great week,

Ice cream time I think.
Diana
30C!!We have had a frost overnight here!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for my roses to flower, but it won't be till June, sadly. You have some beauties there.
I do love roses and will miss mine from the home I moved from in December. I didn't bring any with me to my new home. My daughter gave me a bouquet of pink roses yesterday for Valentine, I just love roses!
ReplyDeleteYou have a pretty view out your window with those pretty roses!
Thank you for sharing your roses. How lovely! Roses are so beautiful and I'm always amazed when I come across one that doesn't have a scent because it just seems like it should! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI love your roses Diana. I had a rose garden at my old house and I never had any trouble growing them. Someone told me it was that the light was perfect over my bed! I did dust them with Sevin to keep the Japanese beetles away but that was about all I ever did to them and they bloomed beautifully.
ReplyDeleteYes, all the roses are beautiful and the have such great names.
ReplyDeleteI do miss having a garden but not the work. Loved my roses wish I had taken and given them to a friend when we moved.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blooms and colour! Can't wait for summer and temps near 30! Enjoy your ice cream!
ReplyDeleteYour roses are so beautiful!! It looks to me as though you are a pretty good gardener! xx
ReplyDeleteOh, how pretty! I, too, love roses...who doesn't, right? Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThankyou for your visit Doodles n Daydreams.
ReplyDeleteEveryone loves roses. Yours are gorgeous and your Grandmother's white rose is adorable. It must hold such special memories.
Have a great week :)
You have a great selection of beautiful roses, thank you for sharing and dropping in on my blog.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, You know what is really cool? Stopping by your blog and enjoying the beautiful roses and reading about your warm weather! Well, here in Seattle we are about to break a record for the wettest December, January, and February in recorded history. Wow, it has been dark and wet in this other hemisphere. It is so refreshing to see the beauty down in your part of the world! Thank you for sharing and I sure appreciate your kind comments on my blog. Well, the weekend will be here soon and I hope you will enjoy it and perhaps some more ice cream! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour roses are beautiful and you have many varieties.
ReplyDeleteI would like to grow more, but I love the ones we have already that have been grown from cuttings, even some from my late mother's garden. Every year I try and add one new rose and have started growing old-fashioned climbers.
Oh, how I love roses and seeing yours has put a smile on my face and a song in my heart :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing with Roses of Inspiration. Hugs to you!
Beautiful roses. I particularly love the white one. xx
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of the lamb in the shadows of the tree! And roses - always a good choice!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses. Hope the ice cream cools you down. We are a chilly 5 degrees at the moment. Have a lovely weekend. Barbara
ReplyDeleteLove that you took a rise cutting from your grandmothers bush. How wonderful
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! :-)
ReplyDeletePretty roses . . . a treat to see in the midst of the snowy bunches we see around here at this time of the year.
ReplyDeleteYour roses are lovely! We are renting a house and there is a rose bush in the front and a couple in the back. I trimmed off the dead ones last weekend and I'm hoping I didn't kill them! We'll see. I love the white rose!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses. How nice to have such a variety! Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteYour roses are lovely. It must be nice to have a wonderful rose garden. I've tried growing roses but never had any luck. Enjoy your weekend, Pat
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining in the anniversary of Five On Friday, I really do appreciate it so much! Have a good weekend! xx
ReplyDeleteLove roses, they don't do awfully well for us, though the climber on our fence does. Love the colors of your roses.
ReplyDeleteRoses in winter. The internet is such a blessing. It's all drab and dreary here in Missouri, and then here come the beautiful roses in pink, red, yellow, white, right here on my desk. Thank you for that little respite from my brown and gray world.
ReplyDeleteFabulous roses....I always wish I could smell them.....thanks for sharing the beauty!
ReplyDeleteThese roses are all so pretty. I wouldn't mind if my neighbour had roses that dripped over to my side either. My neighbour isn't much into gardening though and trims back all the stuff growing over the fence to their side ;) I love most colours of roses, but that white one is gorgeous, so bright! I wouldn't know the names of any of these either, but it doesn't detract from their beauty at all.
ReplyDeleteWendy
I have to agree that roses are always lovely and they come in so many wonderful colors!
ReplyDeleteIf I could have a choice I would convert a whole area of my garden to as many roses as possible. Their scent and colour are always so striking. Have a wonderful week ahead xx
ReplyDeleteRoses are my favorite and these are such pretty ones.
ReplyDelete3rd one is my fave.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana! Oh, your roses and your neighbors are just gorgeous. The yellow one is my favorite.
