I wondered what I was going to share this week as it has been a quiet time around here. But the last 24 hours gave me something, be it ever so little. A few of you might have seen the odd post where I've shown our benign Silverstream. Well it's benign in the summer but today that has changed.
summer on the floodbank |
We had some of this weather below today which rapidly changed
to extremely strong winds and very heavy rain.
autumn on the floodbank
Resulting in a not so benign Silverstream.
today
A lot of sandbagging was happening in the Silverstream area during the day. This is at the bottom of our street but our house is built quite high off the ground, luckily. The rain is still coming down, it hasn't let up since it began this morning.
So now we wait to see whether it breaches the floodbank.
Well that's snow and rain out of the way, I wonder what's next?
Diana
Stay safe and warm.
ReplyDeletePretty stream, but good that your home is on higher ground.
ReplyDeleteOh my, you are indeed getting some rain! Stay safe, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteHugs and joy to you!
Your weather sounds like the weather here in the Southern USA...if you do not like the weather it will change in 24 hours!! Stay safe!!
ReplyDeleteWoah! A complete contrast from that benign trickle to the torrent - it is scary how quickly it can change from one to the other - stay safe x
ReplyDeleteWow that is quite a difference. Hope it has stopped raining by now.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos
ReplyDeleteWow!!! So glad you are high off the ground! That is quite a change in water levels! Please stay high and dry and safe! Thank you for showing us what it is like on the other side of the world! It is hot, sunny, and probably going to thunderstormy later today!
ReplyDeleteDiana, that is some crazy weather! I hope things settle down and you can enjoy the sunshine soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Diana, Such drastic weather. Do take care and be safe.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice week.
Gosh! There's a bit of a shock! We have had drastic weather all over the globe!
ReplyDeleteFires, too! Scary.
DeleteI hope the sun comes out today and you have a good day. We've been having thunderstorms in the afternoons...they come on in a hurry! Hugs!
