Christmas Eve saw some of us at the early evening service with the little boys who got to help make a paper prayer chain and then put it on the altar. Then it was supper and away home to bed to await the arrival of the man in the red suit, and he didn't let them down. It's a wonderful time for children.
The next day saw us all gather at the eldest daughters place for a Christmas dinner of cold meats and salads, with new potatoes and carrots and peas, followed by lots of hot weather desserts. Lots of fun, lots of laughs , lots of gift giving and lots of love. Eldest grand daughter was away with another branch of the family and youngest grand daughter was picked up to go on holiday with friends before we had eaten - but we gave her a doggy bag to go with. She just missed out of pudding. Still I guess touring the South Island in a motor home was probably plenty of compensation. By all accounts she had a good time though we are still waiting to see her photo's from her new camera.
Now it's back to work as if nothing has happened, but we did have the little boys for a couple or 3 nights and that was an interesting experience all around. A great day, a bad day and a normal day. Went to Macdonalds, then down to the fishing wharf, and to Pixie town. Youngest grandson was more taken with the toy ambulance in the toy area and carried it around under his arm till we left.
Anyway, now we start planning to do it all again in 11 1/2 months.
I hope you all had a magical and blessed Christmas and that 2011 will be a wonderful and prosperous new year. Blessings to all.
