First of all I want to wish you all a happy
 and prosperous new year,
a little belated but not too much I hope.

It is summer here down under,
in the southern hemisphere,
which means summer holidays.

Here are a few rules for those heading to the beach,
 the bach, crib or caravan.
Mainly though they are rules for beach-goers,
wherever you pitch your tent.

checking the surf

Wake up smiling
Flip flops are mandatory
(or jandals for New Zealand and thongs for Australia)
Nap often
Feel the breeze
wear sunscreen
take long walks
soak up the sun
Hang up your towel
relax & unwind
Leave the sand at the beach
Ride the waves there and back
Build sandcastles
Be grateful for the day

Wishing you all great summer holidays if you are in the south
and good days whatever you are doing anywhere else.

  1. Just yesterday my Mom and I were talking about how crazy it must be to have Christmas during the Summer every year when you live in the southern hemisphere. Wouldn't it be great to 'winter' down there and 'summer' up here? Hope your 2014 is wonderful, Jan

  2. Well, Diana, I can certainly join in making a splash here in England - floods everywhere at the moment. Hasn't stopped raining for ages. I am just glad we live on top of a hill as other people in Kent were flooded out of their homes n Christmas Day.

Your sunshine pictures cheered me up on this dull, grim day!

  3. Hallo Diana. I wish you a happy and healthy new year, filled with blessings. Of course, we are in mid Winter over here in England. There have been very bad coastal floods throughout the country, but we are safe down here in Devon. I loved your set of rules for beach-goers! Enjoy your summer over there.

  4. Happy New Year to you and yours too Diana!
Definitely 'thong' weather here! Actually we're melting in my part of Oz. Heatwave conditions.
    Gorgeous photos Diana!

  5. yes, well, we have had COLD weather even here in the SOUTH of USA--coldest days in 20 years. Ah well! Kind of fun actually. Enjoy your summer!!!

  6. Dearest Diana;
So Sorry for my belated comment, my friend in New Zealand. We had a bit of snow fall yesterday and we (husband and I) went out to enjoy them just for a while p;) Fun to read the rule including the words like,Flip flop, Thong; haha.
Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
