It's a beautiful blue sky day today and so we decided to go out for lunch at a tavern a couple of suburbs nearer the city. The place we used to go to has burned down and they're not rebuilding so we need to find another 'favourite' eatery. We enjoyed being out in the sun even if it was still a bit cold. When we arrived the carpark was full, we parked outside the takeaway shop and I hoped the owner wouldn't object.
The tavern was crowded but we managed to get a table for two. There were renovations/extensions happening next to where we were sitting but all closed off so no danger to the customers. And nothing going on today.
We had a delicious meal but unfortunately it was very noisy, the restaurant and the bar were both full, and we couldn't hear ourselves speak. But it rounded off nicely a week of grey, cold, miserable weather.
We didn't bother to stop for a hot drink after but left pretty much once we'd finished our meal and headed over to youngest daughter's place to have one. And to check out how they were going with setting up their new home. They have just bought their own home and are still settling in.
I had never heard of feijoa. Had to look it up!
ReplyDeleteWe have a few restaurants that we no longer go to simply because of how noisy they are. Glad you were able to visit with your daughter and were able to see how they were getting along with their new home. Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteAs i get older. I too would rather have a nice meal in a quiet restaurant.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately now days they’re all putting in pokie machines which means there not only has many customers, but you get the noise from the machines.
Kinda why we don’t go out to very often
We were recently at a restaurant that was so noisy we couldn't talk to each other either and it certainly wasn't very relaxing.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your daughter on buying a home.
I never heard of a feijoa before, I had to look it up!
Noisy eating places are not so great, especially as you get older. I like peace and quiet. But I do like to have others around. People watching 😊
ReplyDeleteWe rarely go out to eat anymore. Ever since covid when I made so many of the foods we used to it out and found I liked my food better. :)
ReplyDeleteOne thing I'm not keen on is a noisy environment when I go out to eat, neither is a silent place either, something in the middle is far more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteI too had to look up feijoa!
ReplyDeleteApparently it's a green fruit with a pineapple-guava-strawberry flavour.
Your feijoa loaf looks nice.
All the best Jan
I'm not fond of noisy restaurants either. Nor very relaxing. I had to look up what a feijoa is. Sounds interesting. Your bread looks very good. It can be a bit of a challenge when things like that are so prolific!
ReplyDeleteNoisy restaurants are not fun even if the food is good.
ReplyDeleteI am 68 and have never liked a lot of noise, and this includes when I am dining out. The food could be wonderful, the service polite and friendly, the atmosphere attractive and clean, but if it is noisy I won't enjoy my meal and won't be tempted to go back again.
ReplyDeleteSassy and Purr are delightful!
